Remote Musical Improv Training Online
Recent events have forced us to adapt what we do to allow the Improv and music to continue. Out of this has come the opportunity to get coaching from us remotely via online platforms such as Zoom. We facilitated a trial workshop with our fabulous friends in Trondheim and as a result found out what you will need, what works well and what to avoid. You can see the results in our youtube video
Essential Equipment
- Good laptop
- Webcam
- Projector (and wall to project on)
- External speakers
- A good microphone
- Good internet connection
Ideal set-up
- A large, well-lit space
- Two ambient mics at the front of the 'stage'
- Two speakers or monitors
What to Expect
We will need an initial Zoom call to check the set up is working and sort out any technical problems, roughly 1 hour. Once the participants or your team arrive, it will take a bit of time for people to get used to working remotely but this soon starts to feel normal and you can just enjoy your workshop as you would if we were actually with you.
We can work with your own musicians if you are lucky enough to have them, or Joe can provide all the musical accompaniment remotely. Despite the small lag issues, we have found that providing everyone at your end is in the same physical space, it works very well.

What if I don't have the right stuff?
Just get in touch with us and we can find a way to work with you. We have been teaching, facilitating and performing Musical Improv online since the start of 2020 and we will probably be able to find a way to get it to work for you too. Whether you want to work on an online production, or hone your real life skills, remote facilitation really does work and can be a great way of getting the most out of us without having to fly us, feed us and house us!
